I love Monday Mornings. I start the day at 4am as I do every day. It’s most days actually, not every day. Some days I start at 5am. I can do that because I sleep by 9pm and on some days by 10pm. Monday mornings ae special because I plan for the week – my social media posts, my meal plan, my meetings, my reading, my coloring, et al
Today morning I started with an inspirational call from one of my teachers at 6am. As the call progressed, I could see the sun rise. My house faces the east, so I am treated to a gorgeous sunrise most of the days. Then there was a group book reading at 6.45am. 7.45am is a short session on chanting of the Bhagwad Gita - every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. 830am is a weekly journalling session with a buddy. Today there was a client call at 9am. Then someone reached out to me to be a speaker at an event on Wednesday. So, I worked on a skeleton presentation. The topic is Beyond vulnerability to gender equality and women's empowerment and leadership in Disaster Risk Reduction. I have interpreted it as Beyond vulnerability to gender equality and women's empowerment, and leadership in Disaster Risk Reduction. Can you perceive any other interpretation?
I had my breakfast of eggs and mushrooms. Monday is a day of minimum insulin spike. So simple carbs are at a bare minimum. No bread, rice or roti. No maida, poha, upma, idli or dosa. Focus on proteins, complex carbs (lots of green veggies) and fats (ghee, peanuts, coconuts). After the filling breakfast I am sitting with my lemon infused water to write this post.
My rest of the day looks like this. I will leave at 11am to got to the gym. I come home and have my lunch – veggies, fish, and raita with crushed peanuts. I will do a bit of reading. Currently I am reading The Covenant of Water. The author, Abraham Varghese, writes so beautifully and evocatively. Reproducing some samples which resonated with me.
They cling to each other—who knows when they will see each other again? The young bride’s legs wobble when she peels away from her mother.
When Malayalis say “land” they include water, because it makes no more sense to separate the two than it does to detach the nose from the mouth.
But such memories are woven from gossamer threads; time eats holes in the fabric, and these she must darn with myth and fable.
At 530pm I am attending a book club session at the Bombay Gymkhana. The book is All the Light you Cannot see by Anthony Doerr. This book has to be read, to be experienced. I don’t think any words of mine to describe it, will do any justice. The story, the story telling, both are outstanding.
Then at 7pm I meet a dear friend. We met at Radisson, Alibaug, many, many, many moons back. Our daughters got friendly in the swimming pool. He and I were the supervising parents. Our daughters are no longer connected. But we are. The plan is to bounce off my corporate offering with him.
By the time I come home, I will have just enough time for my night routine before I hit the bed. My night routine consists of a face ritual (cleansing, toning, deep tissue repair, moisturising), moisturising the hands and feet and writing my 5 min Journal. Even on the busiest days, this format helps me spend 5 minutes in the morning and before going to bed - to boost my positivity, to reduce my anxiety, and improve my overall wellbeing.
Did I mention I am self-employed?
PS. This pic is the sunrise at The Hidden Oasis, where I do my bimonthly Loving Yourself More retreats.
